What is PLUSBUS?

It’s a discount price bus pass for unlimited bus travel around the whole urban area of town, at the start or end of your rail journey.  You buy PLUSBUS with your train ticket and pay for your complete journey by train and bus in one easy purchase

PLUSBUS is available to 260 towns and cities across Britain. You can change between train and bus services with PLUSBUS at over 380 railway stations nationwide.

How does PLUSBUS work?

Ask for PLUSBUS when buying your train ticket the station or by phone. PLUSBUS gives you unlimited bus travel around the whole town on all participating bus operators' services. Your bus travel can be at the start, the end, or both parts of your train journey. For each town there is one zone that covers the whole urban area. With your PLUSBUS ticket you can travel as much as you like on all participating buses within the zone.

 

PLUSBUS can be added to most types of walk up and Advance train tickets:

  • single
  • day return
  • period return
  • season ticket (for set periods to match your train season ticket: 7 days, 1 month, 3 months and 1 year)

How much does PLUSBUS cost?

To add unlimited bus travel around town to your train ticket, prices start from £1.60 a day - most PLUSBUS tickets cost around £2 to £3 a day. 

Where do I buy PLUSBUS?

Simply ask for PLUSBUS when buying your train ticket at the station or by phone. It can save you money and is more convenient than buying separate tickets. What's more you can pay with cash, credit or debit card.

  • train station ticket offices
  • self-service ticket machines (at selected stations only)
  • by phone with some Train Company telesales teams

New PLUSBUS Destinations

From 2 January 2009, seventeen more rail-served towns across Britain will be covered by PLUSBUS tickets, including: Arlesey, Barry, Biggleswade, Bognor Regis, Cannock, Gainsborough, Huntingdon, Kendal, Leighton Buzzard, Newark, Retford, St Helens, St Neots, Southport, Tring, Worskop and Worthing.

Also from 2 January 2009 six existing PLUSBUS served towns will start offering season tickets to rail commuters, including: Grimsby & Cleethorpes, Hartlepool, Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Newcastle-u-Tyne and Sunderland.
