Description

Engineering work is taking place between Mills Hill and Rochdale, closing all lines.

Background information:

Network Rail is investing more than £20m in rebuilding a major railway bridge that takes trains over the M62 motorway in Castleton, near Rochdale. Whilst this vital work takes place, the railway will be closed between Manchester and Rochdale from Friday 6 September, and reopening on Tuesday 24 September. Changes to train services:

Monday to Friday:

Trains between Manchester Victoria and Leeds will start / terminate at Rochdale.

Trains between Wigan Wallgate and Leeds will start / terminate at Hebden Bridge.

Trains between Huddersfield and Bradford Interchange will be extended to run from / to Leeds.

Rail replacement buses will run between:

  • Manchester Victoria and Rochdale

Saturday and Sunday:

Trains between Blackpool North and York will be diverted via Brighouse (calling additionally at Sowerby Bridge and Mytholmroyd), and will not call at Halifax, Bradford Interchange and New Pudsey.

Trains between Manchester Victoria and Leeds will start / terminate at Bradford Interchange.

Trains between Wigan Wallgate and Leeds (Saturday only) will start / terminate at Hebden Bridge.

Trains between Halifax and Hull will start / terminate at Bradford Interchange.

Trains between Huddersfield and Bradford Interchange / Leeds will not run.

Rail replacement buses will run between:

  • Manchester Victoria / Rochdale and Hebden Bridge / Bradford Interchange

  • Huddersfield and Halifax

Trains on the route between Manchester Victoria and Blackburn / Clitheroe are unaffected by this engineering work.
