Description

Engineering work will be taking place during the August bank holiday weekend in England and Wales, between Saturday 24 August and Monday 26 August inclusive. Network Rail carry out essential improvement and maintenance work across the rail network during this period.

Some train companies will also be making changes to their timetable, and to some train times, to match services to the number of customers travelling.

Our August Bank Holiday Travel Summary contains lots of useful information on engineering work and service levels if you're travelling during the August bank holiday weekend.

Major Engineering Work:

Network Rail will be working to deliver hundreds of engineering projects, to maintain and upgrade the railway, during the August Bank Holiday weekend. The impact of this work is reflected in Journey Planners.

The biggest, most disruptive work will be taking place during the bank holiday weekend at the following locations:

London Kings Cross - On Sunday 25 August, train services on the East Coast Main Line to and from London Kings Cross will be significantly amended, with replacement buses operating, and some services not running at all. This work will also affect late Saturday night and early Monday morning journeys.

London Euston - For most of the weekend, a reduced and amended service will be operated by the train companies running on the West Coast Main Line to and from London Euston. Longer distance journeys, and local travel plans, may also be affected by work taking place in the Stoke-on-Trent / Macclesfield area.

For more information on all the work taking place, you can find details of forthcoming engineering works on our website.
