Description

On Monday 25 September 2023, a property was badly damaged by fire near the railway at Ayr. Following infrastructure works taking place, some lines have now reopened at Ayr.

A reduced direct service is running between Ayr and Glasgow Central only.

Trains remain suspended between Stranraer and Ayr, and rail replacement transport will run between these stations today.

Customer advice from Monday 1 July:

From Monday 1 July, there will be a gradual reintroduction of train services running between Stranraer and Girvan / Ayr / Kilmarnock. Services will be reduced from Mondays to Saturdays, with a full timetable running on Sundays.

Replacement buses will still operate between Stranraer and Girvan / Ayr / Kilmarnock to supplement the train service.

Additionlly, a full direct timetable will run between Ayr and Glasgow Central.

Further updates are to follow on when a full normal service is expected to resume on all routes through Ayr.

Additional information:

Please note, today, some services between Ayr and Glasgow Central via Paisley will not call at Ayr. A replacement bus service will run between Ayr and Prestwick Town.

Please note, the replacement bus pick up point at Ayr, and for passengers for the Stena coach link to Cairnryan, is the station car park at platform 4.
