Description

A train has hit an obstruction on the line at Billericay. As a result of this, all lines are closed. Trains between Shenfield and Southend Victoria / Southminster will be cancelled or revised.

Major disruption is expected until 21:30.

Customer advice

Customers are advised NOT TO TRAVEL between Liverpool Street and Southend Victoria.

Unfortunately, Greater Anglia are unable to run their services between Shenfield and Wickford due to a train breaking down after hitting an obstruction on the line in the Billericay area.

All lines are blocked between Shenfield and Wickford to allow the rescue process to take place.

We ask customers not to travel on these routes. At present, there are no timescales for re-opening. Tickets for today (Friday 27) will be accepted tomorrow (Saturday 28) & ticket restrictions for today have been lifted.

This closure is in place in order to keep customers and staff safe on the railway.

Greater Anglia and Network Rail are doing everything possible to get customers to their destinations, but while the lines are closed, customers are advised to make their own travel arrangements wherever possible.

Alternative Travel Options;

  • c2c are currently accepting Greater Anglia tickets between London Fenchurch Street and Southend Central

  • Elizabeth line are also conveying Greater Anglia passengers between London Liverpool Street and Shenfield

Please expect your journey to take longer than usual.

Please note that rail replacement buses are unable to operate due shortage of bus drivers.
