Customer advice:

A points failure is causing disruption on the Southern and Gatwick Express routes to / from London Victoria.

Please check the advice below, use the online journey planning tools, and leave at least 20 minutes of extra time for your journey. This is not an exact estimate, and will depend on exactly when you are travelling.

Gatwick Express services which run between Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria will be suspended today, Friday, 11 October

Please use alternative Southern and Thameslink services between the South Coast, Gatwick Airport and London. You will need to leave extra time to catch an alternative train.

Southern services which run to / from London Victoria may have a small number of delays and service changes

Please check your train before you go to the station. To avoid the issues at London Victoria, some trains may be diverted to run to / from London Bridge. This may also result in a reduced service at Clapham Junction at certain times.

There could also be a few other delays and changes.

Airport journeys:

Because of this disruption, trains via Gatwick Airport may be much busier than usual. Please leave plenty of extra time for airport journeys.

Ticket acceptance on alternative routes:

Can you tell me more about the incident?

A points failure at London Victoria means that we have a limited number of platforms available at this station today.

Gatwick Express services have been suspended all day as a result, which will allow us to run most Southern services on each of the major routes to and from this station. However, to ease congestion, some amendments to Southern services are still also expected throughout the day.

Network Rail teams are on site carrying out testing, at present we do expect the problem to continue for the rest of the day.

We were also advised of a further signalling issue causing delays on the northbound line between Preston Park and Hassocks. Network Rail staff have attended and resolved this.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
