Some lines have now reopened following a failure of the electricity supply between Berwick-upon-Tweed / North Berwick and Edinburgh. However, trains running between these stations may still be delayed by up to 120 minutes or cancelled.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
You can use your ticket on the following routes:
TransPennine Express via any reasonable route
Avanti West coast via any reasonable route
LNER via any reasonable route
Passengers affected by this incident can also use their tickets dated today, 28 October to travel on CrossCountry services tomorrow, Tuesday 29 October.
Passengers are advised to book their own taxis between Edinburgh and Newcastle and claim the cost back via CrossCountrys Customer Relations team (please keep your receipts).

Avanti West Coast between London Euston, Manchester and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh
CrossCountry between Sheffield / Doncaster / Leeds / York and Newcastle / Edinburgh
TransPennine Express between Newcastle and Edinburgh via Carlisle
ScotRail between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central
Rail replacement buses have been sourced as follows:
4 x Merlin Coaches from Edinburgh ETA between 20:00 - 20:20 to run as required to intermittent stations to Newcastle
1 X Photoflash Coach ETA 20:15
Passengers can travel on the following alternative service:
Heavily delayed 19:11 TransPennine Express service for York, calling at Morpeth and Newcastle. Can customers please be advised that this service is already extremely busy this evening. Change at Newcastle for the 21:35 Lumo service to London Kings Cross, which will depart at the revised time of 23:08.
For customers travelling onward from Newcastle to Morpeth and Edinburgh, please be advised that replacement transport is being requested to run to Edinburgh, calling at Morpeth.

Lothian buses between Edinburgh and Longniddry in both directions
Rail replacement services all operated by Ratho coaches will run as follows:
1 x Bus between Musselburgh and North Berwick
1 x Bus between Wallyford and Dunbar
1 x Bus from Dunbar to Edinburgh
1 x Bus North Berwick to Edinburgh
Tickets will be accepted on the following routes:
TransPennine Express between Edinburgh and Newcastle
Northern between Newcastle and Morpeth
LNER between Newcastle and Edinburgh
To help you complete your journey, rail replacement transport will be requested, where required, to run between Edinburgh and Newcastle in both directions calling at all stations. Be advised that journey times may be extended by 90 minutes whilst travelling by rail replacement transport.
