Description

A person has been hit by a train between Newcastle and Darlington. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed.

Trains may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 120 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

LNER

Customers may use their tickets dated today, Tuesday 16 July to travel tomorrow, Wednesday 17 July.

Rail replacement transport will operate between Darlington and Newcastle.

You may use your ticket on board the following services at no extra cost:

  • Avanti West Coast between Edinburgh / Glasgow Central and Manchester / London Euston

  • CrossCountry between Edinburgh / Newcastle and York / Leeds / Doncaster / Sheffield (please note that these services are also affected)

  • East Midlands Railway between Sheffield, Leicester and London St Pancras International

  • Northern between Carlisle and Newcastle

  • ScotRail between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central

  • TransPennine Express between Newcastle / York / Leeds and Manchester (please note that these services are also affected)

  • If you are at Edinburgh travelling towards London Kings Cross, you are advised to travel on Avanti West Coast services to London Euston (London terminals)

  • If you are at Edinburgh travelling towards Newcastle are advised to travel on Avanti West Coast services to Carlisle, and change at Carlisle for Northern services to Newcastle

  • If you are at Morpeth travelling towards London Kings Cross, you are advised to travel on Northern services to Newcastle, change at Newcastle for Northern services to Carlisle, and change at Carlisle for Avanti West Coast services to London Euston (London terminals)

  • If you are at Newcastle travelling towards London Kings Cross, you are advised to travel on Northern services to Carlisle and change at Carlisle for Avanti West Coast services to London Euston (London terminals)

If you are travelling towards Edinburgh, you are advised to travel on the following services / routes:

  • If you are at London Kings Cross travelling towards Edinburgh, you are advised to transfer to London Euston and travel on Avanti West Coast services to Edinburgh

  • If you are at Morpeth travelling towards Edinburgh, you are advised to travel on Northern services to Newcastle, change at Newcastle for Northern services to Carlisle and then change at Carlisle for Avanti West Coast services to Edinburgh
