Description

A broken rail at Hackney Downs is causing disruption to journeys running through this station.

As a result, trains running between London Liverpool Street and Seven Sisters / Cheshunt / Chingford may be cancelled, revised or diverted.

Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

Additional information:

A broken rail was found at Hackney Downs overnight last night. The extent of the damage meant that the repair work could not be completed in time for the start of service today.

An altered service plan will operate today. Network Rail staff will be attending the site of the broken rail at the end of service, and will work to carry out the necessary repairs overnight tonight.

Trains are unable to run between London Liverpool Street and Tottenham Hale via Hackney Downs. Trains towards London Liverpool Street are not directly affected.

The following trains will be diverted via Seven Sisters:

• Stansted Express from London London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport

• London Liverpool Street to Hertford East

The following trains will be diverted via a longer route to Tottenham Hale:

• London Liverpool Street to Cambridge North

You can use your ticket on the following services at no extra cost:

• London Underground Victoria line between Tottenham Hale and Seven Sisters

• London Buses between Stratford and Cheshunt via Tottenham Hale

• London Overground between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt via Seven Sisters. Stations on the Seven Sisters route are only a short distance from those on the Tottenham Hale route

• Great Northern / Thameslink services between London Kings Cross and Cambridge

• You can also travel on trains into London Liverpool Street, and change for services towards Hertford East, Stansted Airport and Cambridge

• Statford to Bishops Stortford services will call at stations between Tottenham Hale and Cheshunt

Trains are currently unable to operate between London Liverpool Street and St James Street.

A shuttle service will run between Walthamstow Central and Chingford.

A reduced half hourly service is in operation between London Liverpool Street and Enfield Town / Cheshunt.
