Description

Following a fault with the signalling system at Hunts Cross all lines have reopened. As service recovers, trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revsied.

Major disruption is expected until 17:00.

East Midlands Railway

There was a fault with the signalling system at at Hunts Cross. This is between Liverpool South Parkway and Widnes and was disrupting trains on the Liverpool Lime Street / Nottingham/ Norwich route.

The signalling has now been restored and trains are able to run through the area.

How do I get where I need to be?

You should continue to travel as originally planned however your journey may be delayed by 60 minutes.

Liverpool / Manchester

If you are travelling from Liverpool you can use your ticket on Northern services to travel via Leeds for Sheffield, Grantham and Peterborough where you can make onward connections with LNER towards Ely and Nottingham.

Alternatively you can travel with Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway to reach Nottingham, connecting at Crewe or Birmingham New Street.

Your tickets will also be valid on any reasonable route with TransPennine Express and CrossCountry.

Merseyrail

Trains may be terminated / started back from Liverpool Central.

Northern

Services between Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington Central and services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road (via Warrington Central) are currently unable to run.

Customers may use alternative Northern services between Liverpool stations and Manchester stations via Newton-le-Willows.

TransPennine Express

Customers may use their ticket for travel on the following:

  • East Midlands Railway services between Liverpool Lime Street and Sheffield in both directions

  • Northern between Warrington Central and Manchester Oxford Road

  • Alternative TransPennine Express services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria

Road replacement transport will shuttle between Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington Central.
