Description

Electrical supply problems between Hythe and Thorpe-le-Soken means all lines are currently closed. As a result, trains between Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea / Walton-on-the-Naze may be cancelled, delayed by up to 10 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

Owing to damage to the overhead electric wires in the Alresford area, the line between Hythe and Thorpe-le-Soken is blocked in both directions to allow essential repairs to be carried out. Greater Anglia are working closely with Network Rail to get the problem fixed as soon as possible.

Liverpool Street - Clacton-on-Sea

Colchester - Walton-on-the-Naze

Alternative travel options:

Very limited rail replacement transport will shuttle between Colchester and Thorpe-le-Soken. A limited train shuttle is in operation between Walton-on-the-Naze / Clacton-on-Sea and Thorpe-le-Soken.

Please note that non-foldable bikes and e-scooter are not allowed on any rail replacement buses.

Travelling on local buses?

Local buses operated by Hedingham & Chambers run between Walton and Colchester via Thorpe-Le-Soken on the 105 bus route. Also, the 74/ 74B buses operate between Colchester City centre and Clacton Pier Avenue. Please note that Greater Anglia tickets are not accepted on local bus route in the area.

Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.
