Thameslink services in the London area

Description

A number of incidents are causing disruption to Thameslink services in the London area today.

As a result, trains may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 90 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

Customer Advice:

Thameslink services have been severely disrupted due to a number of incidents taking place at the same time:

  • A power supply failure affecting our network in the central London area

  • A track defect blocking some lines towards St Albans from West Hampstead

You should expect severe disruption throughout the evening. Do not start new journeys into London as many services are cancelled with long delays likely.

If you have already travelled and need to return home this evening, you should now consider starting your journey but please be prepared for cancellations and extended delays to affect your travel.

No Thameslink services will run between London and Sutton. If you are travelling on this route, you will need to use an alternative route.

You will be able to use your ticket on the following, at no extra cost :

  • Southern and Thameslink services on any reasonable route towards your destination

  • London Underground services on any reasonable route across London

  • London Buses, on routes from Sutton through London and Elstree and Borehamwood

  • East Midlands trains, on any reasonable route

  • Metrobus services between Redhill and Horsham, for stations such as Earlswood, Salfords, Ifield, Littlehaven

If you did not to travel today, you can instead use your ticket for travel tomorrow the 26th September

Live departure boards can be found here, and you can check live maps here to see if your journey has been affected.

You can also see an alternative route guide on the Thameslink website here, and if you're travelling in the London area, you can plan journeys on alternative routes by using the TfL Journey Planner here.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Thamslink are working closely with Network Rail and local electricity suppliers to make sure the power is restored. Until this is done, it is expected that there will be delays, cancellations and changes to services in the area.

If you're on a train which is being held in the area, it may take longer for you to get you to the next station, and onwards to your destination. Please listen out for information from the crew or contact Thameslink on social media if you need further support with your journey.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
