South Western Railway services to / from London Waterloo

Description

The fault with the signalling system between Vauxhall and London Waterloo has has reoccurred. Therefore, trains may continue to be delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 14:00.

Customer advice:

South Western Railway have been informed that the track circuit failure between Vauxhall and London Waterloo has reoccurred. This means that trains will have to run at reduced speed on some lines towards London Waterloo.

Until further notice the following alterations will be necessary:

  • Woking to London Waterloo stopping services will run non-stop from Surbiton to London Waterloo

  • Guildford to London Waterloo via Cobham & Stoke d'Abernon services will run non-stop from Surbiton to London Waterloo

  • Shepperton to London Waterloo services will be diverted in both directions via Twickenham, calling additionally at Strawberry Hill and Twickenham


Vauxhall will have a reduced service towards London Waterloo. You may need to change trains at Clapham Junction or travel via London Waterloo.

To assist you with your journey your ticket will be accepted, at no extra cost to yourself, on the following services:

  • London Underground between Wimbledon / Richmond and Central London

  • London Buses via any reasonable routes in the Kingston, Wimbledon, Clapham Junction and Waterloo areas.

Additional information:

A track circuit is one system used by signallers to identify where trains are on the tracks. When these fail, trains have to stop at each affected signal and verify that the track beyond the signal is clear. Once they have authority from the signaller to continue, they must do so at caution until they have traversed that signalling section. This process takes up to 10 minutes per affected signal.
