Description

Following an earlier fault with the signalling system at Manchester Piccadilly all lines have now reopened. Trains running to / from / through this station may continue to be delayed by over 120 minutes, cancelled or revised.

Major disruption is expected until the end of service.

CrossCountry

Customers who wish to defer their travel may use their ticket dated Friday 9 August, today (Saturday 10 August).

Passengers from Manchester wishing to get taxis to Crewe / Stoke-on-Trent may do so. Keep a receipt detailing the journey details and provide this alongside their original rail tickets to CrossCountry Customer Relations for a reimbursement.

Coaches have been requested to travel from Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent towards Manchester Piccadilly. You will be updated here once these are available.

London Northwestern Railway are conveying passengers between Birmingham New Street and Crewe via Stoke-on-Trent in both directions until further notice.

Northern

You can use your ticket on Metrolink services between Manchester city centre and Altrincham / Manchester Airport / Ashton-under-Lyne at no extra cost.

Mutual ticket acceptance is in operation with all train companies operating through Manchester for any reasonable route to allow you to get to your destination.

To assist customers in completing their journey, the following Bee Network / Stagecoach Buses will operate from Manchester Piccadilly:

  • 192 - Service to Stockport / Hazel Grove (change at Stockport for services to Marple)

  • 201 - Service to Hadfield

  • 205 - Service to Gorton

Northern tickets are not accepted for travel onboard local buses. Customers will be required to purchase tickets from the operator prior to boarding.

Some trains will be replaced with road transport however operators are limited due to the severe impact of this disruption. Please see station information screens or online journey planners for the latest departure times.

TransPennine Express

You can use your ticket on Metrolink services between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport at no extra cost.

You can also use your ticket on the Manchester City Centre free bus between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria.

Transport for Wales

To assist you with your journey your tickets will be accepted on Keanes Coaches between Warrington Bank Quay and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions.

Additionally, you may use your tickets on Avanti West Coast and Northern services via any reasonable route.

Additional information:

Network Rail staff have been on site and fixed the issue.

All routes travelling through Manchester Piccadilly will continue to be significantly impacted by the earlier signalling fault.
