Description

Emergency services dealing with an incident between Bolton and Salford Crescent, means all lines are closed. As a result, trains running between Bolton and Manchester Victoria / Manchester Oxford Road may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or diverted.

Disruption is expected until 20:00.

To help you on your journey, you can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following:

  • Avanti West Coast services via any reasonable route

  • TransPennine Express services via any reasonable route

  • Transport for Wales services via any reasonable route

Customers travelling from Manchester are advised to change at Warrington Bank Quay for connections north.

Replacement road transport will operate as below:

  • 17:40 - A coach operated by Phantom Travel will depart from Bolton, calling at all stations to Southport

  • 17:40 - A coach operated by Phantom Travel will depart from Bolton, calling at all stations to Clitheroe

  • 17:30 - A coach operated by Kingdom Travel will depart from Manchester Victoria, calling at all stations to Clitheroe

  • 17:45 - A coach operated by Coastal Coaches will depart from Manchester Oxford Road, calling at all stations to Bolton

  • 17:55 - A coach operated by Bestway will depart from Manchester Oxford Road, calling at all stations to Southport

  • 18:15 - A mini bus operated by Bestway will depart from Manchester Oxford Road, calling at all stations to Bolton

  • 18:30 - A mini bus operated by Bestway will depart from Manchester Oxford Road, calling at all stations to Bolton

Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport. Farnworth station currently remains closed and is not accessible to replacement transport.

TransPennine Express

To help you on your journey, you can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following:

  • Avanti West Coast services between Glasgow Central / Edinburgh and Preston

  • Northern services between Preston and Manchester Airport / Manchester Piccadilly / Manchester Oxford Road / Manchester Victoria via Wigan North Western and Walkden

Replacement road transport is being requested to run between Bolton and Preston in both directions. More details will follow once this is confirmed.

The following TransPennine Express services will divert via Wigan North Western:

  • 15:08 Glasgow Central - Manchester Airport service, not calling at Bolton

  • 16:04 Manchester Airport - Edinburgh service

  • 17:04 Manchester Airport - Glasgow Central service
