Description

A fault with the signalling system between York and Darlington / Middlesbrough means that all lines are closed. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled or revised.

Disruption is expected until 15:00.

Customer advice

Network Rail Engineers are on site and are working to rectify the fault.

TransPennine Express

Rail replacement has been requested and will operate between the following services:

  • Northallerton and Middlesbrough

  • Darlington and Middlesbrough

  • York and Saltburn

Please see station staff for further information.

When services resume customers may travel on Northern services between Thornaby and Saltburn.

Northern

Effect on service:

Trains are unable to run between Middlesbrough and Darlington in both directions.

Trains are unable to run between Middlesbrough and Sunderland via Hartlepool in both directions.

You may use your ticket onboard the following services at no extra cost:

  • TransPennine Express via any reasonable route

  • Tyne & Wear Metro services via any reasonable route

  • LNER between York and Darlington / Newcastle

Rail replacement transport will run as follows:

  • 11:45 Darlington calling at all stations to Middlesbrough. Provided by Northstar

  • 11:45 Middlesbrough calling at all stations to Bishop Auckland. Provided by E-Travel

  • 11:50 Allens West calling at all stations to Saltburn. Provided by E-Travel

  • 12:00 Sunderland calling at all stations to Middlesbrough. Provided by E-Travel

  • 13:15 Middlesbrough calling at all stations to Hartlepool. Provided by EX626

Journey times will be extended by 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
