Description

A failure of the electricity supply at Orpington means trains are unable to use some platforms at this station. As a result, services may be cancelled or revised.

This is expected until the end of the day.

What's happened?

The electricity supply has failed to platforms 6 to 8 at Orpington, following a fire in an electrical sub-station in the area this morning.

Network Rail response staff are on site assessing the damage caused, however residual heat and smoke means they are unable to fully access the affected area.

How does this affect my journey?

A reduced service is running between Orpington and London Cannon Street throughout the day.

Some Thameslink services are currently disrupted on the route to and from Orpington.

Some trains may be cancelled in this area, and other trains may be diverted to start or terminate at other locations, or they may only complete parts of their normal journeys.

In reaction to this issue, there will also be a small number of changes to trains on the Sevenoaks route as well.

If you are travelling on the Orpington route, and there is a long wait until the next train, you may need to use another route to get to your destination.

Your ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on:

  • London Buses serving stations between Orpington and Central London

  • Southeastern services between Orpington and London, where available
