Customer advice

Southern and Thameslink services are being delayed between Purley and Horley.

What does this mean for my journey?

The following services will be affected:

  • London Victoria to/from Brighton

  • Brighton/Three Bridges to/from London Bridge

Trains may be diverted via Redhill in the London-bound direction due to a signalling fault. The diversion may add delays of up to 10-15 minutes.

Services running towards Gatwick Airport will be running via their booked routes.

Late-running trains may be revised. This means they may not stop at all of the usual stations, or they may terminate part of the way along their usual routes.

As a result, you may need to change trains to get to your destination.

Southern and Thameslink will be keeping their departure boards and station announcements up to date, so please keep an eye on the latest information when you're travelling. You can also see the next train from your station here.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following:

  • Southern and Thameslink services on any reasonable route towards your destination

  • Metrobus routes on:

    • 3 for Gatwick, Three Bridges, Crawley – roughly every 45 minutes

    • 20 for Three Bridges, Gatwick Airport, Horley

    • 100 for Redhill, Earlswood, Salfords, Horley, Gatwick, Crawley, Three Bridges

    • 400 for Redhill, Earlswood, Salfords, Horley, Gatwick, Crawley, Three Bridges

Can you tell me more about the incident?

During engineering works, engineers found that a section of track between Purley and Horley had developed a fault. This is now being investigated. To ensure passenger safety, it has been necessary to put a significant speed restriction on the affected line. The usual speed would be much higher, so Southern / Thameslink have had to divert some trains around it.
