Description

Lines have now reopened following an earlier fault with the signalling system at Redhill.

As service recovers, trains running through this station may still be cancelled.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

Great Western Railway

In order to ease congestion in the affected area, some Gatwick Airport services may terminate early.

Southern / Thameslink

A fault with the signalling system means that Southern / Thameslink are unable to run the majority of services through Redhill until further notice.

How will this affect my journey?

All services will be diverted, and so will be unable to stop at Earlswood, Redhill, Merstham, Coulsdon South and Reigate.

Services will also be unable to run between Redhill and Tonbridge.

  • If you're travelling to / from Redhill, Merstham, Coulsdon South and Reigate, then you'll likely need to take a different train than planned and you may need to change trains en route at either Purley or East Croydon. it is advised that you allow an extra 20 minutes travel time.

  • If you are travelling to / from Earlswood, it is advised that you use local bus routes to complete your journey or to travel to Gatwick Airport or Horley for onward rail connections. We'd advise allowing an extra 30 minutes travel time.

  • If you are travelling to / from Tonbridge, Leigh, Penshurst, Edenbridge, Godstone or Nutfield, then you'll likely need to use an alternative route to complete your journey. Journey times may be extended by an extra 30-60 minutes so please allow extra time to account for this.

Tickets will be accepted for no extra cost on the following:

  • Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express services via any reasonable route

  • Great Western Railway services between Gatwick Airport, Redhill and Reigate (please note these services are likely to also be affected by this incident)

  • Southeastern services between Tonbridge and London

  • London Buses between Redhill and East Croydon

  • The following Metrobus routes:

    • 400 between Caterham, Godstone, Nutfield (Crown), Godstone (Green), Redhill, Earlswood, Salfords, Gatwick Airport, Crawley, Three Bridges and East Grinstead

    • 409 between East Grinstead, Godstone, Whyteleafe, Whyteleafe South, Upper Warlingham and Caterham (please note this runs to a very limited timetable on Sundays so please check before you travel)

    • 410 between Redhill, Nutfield (Crown), Godstone and Oxted

    • 411 for Merstham, Redhill, Reigate

    • 420 for Reigate, Redhill, Earlswood, Salfords, Gatwick and Crawley
