Description

A shortage of train crew across the whole Thameslink network means that a reduced service is in operation today.

Trains may be cancelled or revised.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

A reduced Thameslink service will run today.

Thameslink have listed the most significantly affected routes below, along with alternative journey options. These will be available at no extra cost.

It is recommended that you check whether or not your planned train is running before you decide whether to use an alternative. In some cases, you may also be able to change trains to get to your destination more quickly.

However, if your journey is affected, it is estimated that you may need to leave up to 30 minutes of extra time, whether you use another train or another public transport option.

Horsham - Peterborough:

Cancellations on this route will occur throughout the day, especially mid-morning, early in the afternoon and in the evening. These will include some of the last trains of the day on this route.

You can use the following:

• Southern services between Horsham and London Victoria

• Metrobus services between Horsham, Crawley/Three Bridges, Gatwick Airport, Redhill and Merstham

• Alternative Thameslink services between Three Bridges and London via Redhill

• London Underground services across London

• London Buses across London

• Great Northern services between London Kings Cross and Stevenage, and also at stations to Peterborough (at peak times only)

• LNER services between London Kings Cross, Stevenage and Peterborough (please check carefully to ensure the train calls at your destination)

Sutton / Wimbledon - St Albans City:

Cancellations will occur throughout the day. These will include some of the last trains of the day on this route. There will also be some service changes, with some trains only completing parts of their usual journeys.

You can use the following:

• London Underground services across London

• London Buses across London

• Southern services between Sutton and London Bridge or London Victoria

• London Trams between Wimbledon, Mitcham Junction, West Croydon and East Croydon- Alternative Thameslink trains via East Croydon

• South Western Railway services between Wimbledon and London Waterloo

• Southeastern services between Herne Hill and London Victoria

Brighton / Three Bridges - Bedford:

A small number of evening cancellations will occur, but you can still use your normal route, with a longer wait possible.

Thameslink know these cancellations and service changes are inconvenient, and are doing everything they can to run as many trains as possible. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of train drivers today, and this means some trains will be cancelled, so you're being made aware as soon as possible and staff are putting alternative arrangements in place, wherever they can.
