Description

A fault with the signalling system near London St Pancras International means trains are unable to run between Luton and London St Pancras International.

Major disruption is expected until 14:15.

What has happened?

There is a fault with the signalling system near London St Pancras International station. This is between Luton and London St Pancras and is disrupting trains on London St Pancras International/ Nottingham / Sheffield and London St Pancras International / Luton Airport Parkway / Corby.

Network Rail are on site investigating the problem.

How does this affect my train?

Trains running through the area in the both direction can not run.

At present we are expecting the problem to be fixed in the next 2 hours. As soon as the problem is fixed the priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect the advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 14:15.

How do I get where I need to be?

East Midlands Railway are currently looking at alternative arrangements to keep you on the move. Please remember that this can take time and be assured that teams are working tirelessly to arrange this as quickly as possible for you.

East Midlands Railway have relaxed some of their usual ticket restrictions. If you hold an ‘Advance Ticket’ which is usually valid on a specific train you may use it to travel on any of their trains on this route.

If you have an ‘Off Peak’ or ‘Super Off Peak’ ticket you may use it on board Peak Time trains on this route today.

Trains are likely to experience extended delays or alterations. You should use alternative routes which will be most comfortable and quickest way to get where you need to be. You may travel via the following alternative routes:

Sheffield

You may travel to Nottingham to connect with our trains to Grantham. You can then travel to Grantham where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete this journey. LNER, who run the trains between Grantham and London Kings Cross recommend booking a seat reservation. . This can be done up to 5 minutes before the train departs, see here for lots of useful information about what to expect when travelling via Kings Cross.

Derby / Chesterfield

You may travel to Birmingham New Street where you should change for a train to London Euston. It is likely to take between 2.5 and 3 hours to complete this journey. See here for lots of useful information about what to expect when travelling via Euston.

Nottingham

You may travel to Grantham where you should change for a train to London Kings Cross. It is likely to take between 2 and 2.5 hours to complete this journey. Leicester

You may travel to Nuneaton where you should change for a train to London Euston. It is likely to take 2 hours to complete this journey. See here for lots of useful information about what to expect when travelling via Euston.

All of these alternative route options are available in the opposite direction too. Don’t worry about your ticket, East Midlands Railway have already made arrangements with other train companies for you to travel with your original ticket.

If you need to start your outward journey from a different operator's station due to this disruption, then you will also be able to travel back to that station when you return, regardless of if the disruption has ended or your ticket type. Rail industry colleagues will welcome you on board with your original ticket.

Corby

A replacement bus service is running in both directions between Corby and Kettering every 30 minutes. This is only for customers travelling to / from Corby.

These arrangements will remain in place until the line re-opens and the train service recovers.
