Description

A fault with the signalling system at Westerfield means that all lines are blocked. Trains running between Ipswich and Felixstowe / Lowestoft may be cancelled, delayed by up to 35 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 18:00.

Customer Advice

Train services between Ipswich and Felixstowe and Lowestoft are being disrupted due to a fault with the signalling system at Westerfield. This has been caused by damage to some cables in the area.

Network Rail engineers have been informed and on route to the site to investigate.

At present, Ipswich to Felixstowe services are suspended.

Ipswich to Lowestoft services may be cancelled or altered at short notice until the cables have been repaired.

Alternative travel arrangements for customers travelling on the Felixstowe branch:

Greater Anglia have acquired a limited number of rail replacement buses to operate between Ipswich and Felixstowe. The buses are expected to be on site by 14:30.

Your tickets will be accepted on local bus routes 75 and X7 (operated by First Norfolk & Suffolk)

Alternative travel arrangements for customers travelling between Ipswich and Lowestoft.

If you are travelling directly to Ipswich or Lowestoft, you may travel via Norwich at no extra cost.

Local bus 64 runs an hourly service to / from Ipswich, calling at Woodbridge, Melton, Wickham Market and Saxmundham.

Local buses X2 and X22 runs from Beccles to Lowestoft.

Unfortunately, Greater Anglia have been unable to source rail replacement buses between Ipswich and Lowestoft. They are looking further afield and will advise you when they are able to source buses.

Advance purchase tickets holders will be allowed to travel on earlier or later trains if their booked service is cancelled.
