Description

Lines have reopened between Dartford / Bexleyheath and Woolwich Arsenal following the earlier incident where a person was hit by a train. Trains may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled whilst service recovers.

Major disruption to continue until 17:00.

If you've been affected by what happened on the network today, there is always someone to talk to. You can contact the Samaritans on 116 123 from any phone for a confidential chat.

What's happened?

The line has reopened following a person being hit by a train earlier today. Power has been restored to the track and trains are now on the move, but may be subject to alterations as we work to get services running back to normal.

Advice for Southeastern customers:

How does this affect my journey?

Services on the Woolwich line will be subject to delays and may be altered as we work to get trains running back to normal times.

What should I do?

You can use your tickets to travel on the following alternative routes at no additional cost:

  • London Buses on reasonable routes between London and Dartford.

  • Elizabeth line between Abbey Wood and Farringdon

  • Docklands Light Railway between Lewisham, Woolwich Arsenal and Greenwich

  • Thameslink services on alternative routes where available

If you're using Oyster / Contactless PAYG and you incur additional costs, please contact our Customer Services team.

Alternative Routes:

For details of alternative routes that may be available to complete your journey, please refer to our Alternative routes during disruption maps which can be found here.

Advice for Thameslink customers:

A person was struck by a train between Dartford and London Bridge earlier today. This has been affecting Thameslink services on the route between Rainham, London Bridge and Luton (in both directions).

Services can run normally again, but some trains may have been diverted between Dartford and London Bridge, running via Lewisham, and not via Greenwich.

The first trains to run as booked will be:

  • 14:46 Luton to Rainham (15.48 from London Bridge)

  • 15:30 Rainham to London

Check before you travel this afternoon. If your planned train is affected then you'll either need to wait for the next available service, or use an alternative route instead.

Please listen carefully to announcements and check station screens when you are travelling.

Ticket acceptance on alternative routes:

You may use your Thameslink ticket at no extra cost on:

  • London Buses on any reasonable route serving stations between Dartford, Woolwich, Charlton, Greenwich and Central London

  • Docklands Light Railway services between Woolwich Arsenal, Lewisham or Greenwich and Central London

  • Elizabeth line services between Abbey Wood, Woolwich and Farringdon

  • Alternative Southeastern services on any reasonable route, where available, except High Speed services between Gravesend and London St Pancras International
