Various routes across the Transport for Wales network

Description

Flooding is causing major disruption to various routes across the Transport for Wales network today.

As a result, trains across the network may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Your journey will take significantly longer than normal. Please check your entire journey is still possible before setting off today.

If you are unable to complete your journey today, you'll be able to use your ticket to travel tomorrow, Thursday 17 October, at no extra cost.

Major disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

The following routes are affected:

  • Crewe - Shrewsbury

  • Crewe - Chester (You can read more details about the disruption on this route here)

  • Wrexham - Shrewsbury

  • Wrexham General - Shotton

  • Wolverhampton - Shrewsbury (You can read more details about the disruption on this route here)

  • Hereford - Shrewsbury - Transport for Wales advise customers to not attempt to travel between Hereford and Shrewsbury in both directions. Road transport is unable to run due to flooding on local roads.

  • Rhoose Cardiff International Airport - Bridgend

  • Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Barry - Transport for Wales advise customers to not attempt to travel on this route.

  • Cardiff Queen Street - Rhymney - Transport for Wales advise customers to not attempt to travel on this route.

You may use ticket on the following operators to help you complete your journey today, at no extra cost:

  • Avanti West Coast between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly / Birmingham New Street

  • CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Cardiff Central

  • London Northwestern Railway between Crewe and Wolverhampton

  • West Midlands Railway between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton

  • Cardiff Bus between Barry and Cardiff

  • Stagecoach buses 50/50A between Bargoed - Caerphilly, 51/53 between Merthyr - Rhymney - Bargoed - Ystrad Myncach - Caerphilly, and also 120 between Caerphilly - Treforest - Pontyprdd

Passengers for Cardiff or Bridgend should travel using mainline services via Pencoed and Pontyclun, if possible.

Rail replacement transport operating on the affected routes:

Rail replacement road transport is running between Crewe and Shrewsbury, and between Rhoose Cardiff International Airport and Bridgend.

Extremely limited road transport is also running between Wrexham and Shrewsbury, and between Wrexham Central and Bidston.

Please speak with station staff, or use the help points at stations for further assistance.

Replacement transport is unable to call at Yorton and Prees station due to floodwater on the roads.
